Hailing from across the seas, David Wightman creates bold works with elemental panels of colour and striking composition. Born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, he studied Fine Arts at Middlesex University and gained a Master of Arts in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London. While still at the Royal College of Art, he won ‘Young Artist of the Year’ at the Hunting Art Prizes. He graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2003 as the youngest graduate at the age of 23.
With something of a nod to Pop-art and negative imaging in photography, David’s prints and paintings often depict mountainous ranges filtered through a hyper-stylised colour-scheme. David creates a topographical effect by using blocks of colour to create shading and tone. Having cultivated his skill set to the nth-degree, David’s works have been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Financial Times and MoneyWeek.
With an intimidating list of awards and exhibition features, David’s art making practice is instilled with quality and expertise.
PLEASE NOTE: As an international artist, artworks can take up to three weeks to arrive.
