Lamice Ali, bridges her love for art and science in her charming and exquisitely detailed artworks.
Her works draw influences from nature, animals and the world around her. The beauty of a single discarded feather can spark a myriad of ideas, Lamice is constantly imagining, experimenting and creating new ways of seeing the environment.
If you can't find her collecting feathers and leaves she is probably behind her stack of Moleskine sketchbooks and pencil tins. Lamice loves drawing and mainly uses traditional media including pencils, ink and water colour. Her sketchbook of choice is a Moleskine book, some of her artworks are lifted straight from her sketchbook, carefully framed and are ready to brighten up your wall!
Lamice creates charming, anatomically-correct creatures that have been rendered with close detail and researched extensively. The animals in her work come to life as she mixes a sense of realism with imagined compositions and landscapes. She looks to animals, plants, physical and chemical processes as her main subjects.
Lamice Ali is a Sydney based artist. She is also an environmental scientist and has a postgraduate degree in ecology. Akin to a modern day renaissance artist, she views her art as an extension of her role as a scientist.
