Empowering a Creative Community | COVID and Beyond

With the effects of COVID heavily impacting the arts it was our goal last financial year to keep our Australian creative community alive. Our results speak for themselves.

We all know first hand how life can change so quickly with the onset of a global pandemic.

With artists relying on a livelihood of in person exhibitions, art sales and performative shows, there is no doubt that the arts sector was one of the worst affected over the past year.

At Art Pharmacy our goal was to keep our Australian creative community alive. We worked hard to push new projects, promote emerging and established artists through our online gallery and find ways to establish new art opportunities throughout the last financial year.

We are thrilled to look back at our results and find that we engaged around 250+ artists and creatives over 20 different creative projects, all while working remotely.

We are proud to say that this enabled over $372,500 of artist and creatives fees going directly back into our creative community. We also ensured all artists shortlisted for projects were paid for concepts even if unsuccessful.

We knew it was a tough year for those establishing their arts practise. This is why we pitched 66% of our artists for more than one project. We also collaborated with City of Sydney to film a short series of video's that divided deep into the stories of eight emerging artists who are represented in our online gallery. We are happy to say we turned through $116,470.00 of online gallery sales going back into the artist pockets.

Even during the pandemic we wanted to maintain our standard of consulting at a national level, and are happy to say we successfully engaged artists from all regions of Australia. Based on population data from the last census, our projects reached approximately 650,000 people across a selection of different States and Territories.

As a female founded and operated business, we are committed to diversity and equality. This is why we ensured to support an equal number of male and female artists (52% Female, 48% male) and engage creatives from over 13 different ethic backgrounds, artists who identify as having a disability and artists from the LGBTQI+ community.

We are deeply committed to nurturing the sustainable and supportive creative community we have at Art Pharmacy. We are looking forward to a new financial year where we can continue to support Australian artists with a renewed passion and drive to create more opportunities for artists and the community.

Art Pharmacy is a full service art strategy and culture agency. Our Art Consultants are here to plan, manage and deliver creative projects that culturally enrich spaces and tell interesting stories using high- quality Australian art.
