Scott Neil trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee Scotland. He now lives in beautiful Brisbane.
After many years painting coastal scenes of Scotland Scott now takes delight and inspiration from the vibrant landscapes and colours of Australia. He finds Australia a magical place for an artist to stop, stretch out all their senses and really observe and understand the landscape. So he strives to capture that sense of place and time through his use of colour, light, rhythm and brush marks.
I take inspiration also from both my parents, who were artists who met in the 1960’s at the Glasgow School of Art. Also, I am inspired by the “Glasgow Boys”, Impressionists and Colourists.
He uses acrylics and oil paints and switches happily between canvas, paper or board depending on the finish look he is looking for.
