New York born artist Stephanie Chambers paints impossible natural scenes in her sunny Darlinghurst studio. By drawing widely from elements of nature, she evokes fantastical excitement through bizarre compositions which could never occur in reality.
Experimentation with the picture plane — from flat butterflies to three-dimensional green tree frogs and polar bears frozen in time — showcases the eclectic brilliance of the natural environment.
Acrylic paint, wax crayons and oil crayons are applied to wooden panels to create beautifully layered works. Chambers is a keen bird-watcher who is constantly inspired by outdoor adventures, as well as her day job managing exhibitions at the Royal Botanic Gardens.
